This marks the 40th July anniversary of mankind's greatest adventure to date. 40 years ago, some people went to the moon, and did. To mark the significance of that performance, astronaut Buzz Aldrin has been ambassador for Omega, the brand that made the Moon Watch.

Indeed, the scale of our brave men to reach can not be over emphasized. Put yourself in their shoes. You're sitting on top of a huge rocket filled with explosive fuel, and you're strapped in, and subjected to enormous G-forces, it becomes inflamed, and shoot down no one can survive in an environment to astronauts, the only thing stands between them and certain death in the ability of the construction teams to perform their jobs. Imagine putting your life into the hands of someone you hardly know; survival trust the integrity of metal and glass.

The manned missions to the moon, the timing was, of course, important. It was natural that a good hour be delivered to the astronauts, but the standard that the Omega Speedmaster was built, it would have been beyond the expectations of NASA. So perfect was the design and assembly, that no alterations were made to the hour before going out in the cold vacuum of space. The main pursuit of precision, this watch was quite incidentally, there will be space for sure.

And while Neil Armstrong went down in history as the first man on the moon, Buzz Aldrin was the first person to wear a watch on the lunar surface. He himself admitted that he "identified with it" and did not want to just sit in the Lunar Module as Neil had to replace the timer module, which has already failed.

Really been a shame if that happened. An hour is designed to be worn, and one to endure the stress and the radiation that comes from the space he deserves to demonstrate that ability. This is something that is not easily Omega Speedmaster, NASA astronauts can wear the same models of modern Shuttle missions. And people are planning to return to the Moon, a new generation Moonwatches will soon be called to prove his potential to the lunar surface.

In hindsight (not to mention in today's high technology), it seems all the more amazing is that men have ever reached the moon, let alone so many times. The odds stacked against them dropped out before the combination of courage, determination, and just a little luck. To look at the huge assembly of people, parts and technology to the nation united in common purpose to look at something really special. And Omega watches on their part was that we still go to work today.
